Online art community deviantART ramps up UK ads

DeviantART, the world’s largest online art community, has appointed w00t!media to grow brand advertising in the UK.

Digital sales house w00t!media will bring bespoke, integrated campaigns to the website, which attracts 44 million unique visitors globally each month.
DeviantART.com allows members to exhibit, promote and share original artwork online. Photographers, painters, illustrators, creative directors and designers are typical contributors.
w00t!media will continue to build on momentum generated by deviantART’s former digital advertising partner Unanimis; leveraging the site’s audience of 1.8 million in the UK as deviantART scales operations in the country.
deviantART is aiming to create targeted content from complementary brands across the gaming, film, beverage and consumer electronics sectors.
“deviantART is thrilled to announce w00t!media as our exclusive brand advertising sales house in the UK,” says Ernie Riemer, Vice President of Advertising Operations at deviantART. “Its reputation in the industry and existing roster of partners and publishers makes w00t!media an ideal fit for our advertising sales needs. Now more than ever, deviantART will be able to effectively leverage its market-leading advertising solutions, offering unique brand integrations to the burgeoning advertising market in the UK.”
Originally launched in the US in 2000, 60% of traffic to deviantART is now generated from outside of the country. Previous advertisers include Walt Disney Pictures, Sony, Red Bull, Dr Pepper, PS3 and Canon.
“England is currently the second largest region in the world directing traffic to deviantART, and with London generating the most unique monthly visits, the time is right to engage with an active audience in a meaningful way,” said Austen Kay, Director of w00t!media.
“It’s such a visual site and the largest online community of artists and art enthusiasts, so we will focus on placing brand messages in appropriate content environments to complement the individual consumers deviantART attracts – creative, independent people who are immersed in new technology; many of whom have been around since the site launched. With such a loyal following, it’s important to target people sensitively.”
