Video: Top 10 YouTube clips of 2010

YouTube has looked back on the year to launch a video of its most watched clips of 2010, including Old Spice, annoying oranges and bed intruders.


During 2010, people watched more than 700 billion YouTube videos, and uploaded more than 13 million hours of video.
That translates into about 2 billion views a day, an increase of 50% compared with last year. What’s more, 24 hours of new videos are uploaded to the video sharing site every minute.
While the question of Google makes any money out of the video site remains unanswered, advertising turnover had tripled during the year.
UK videos
Gap Yah’ – a satirical sketch which parodies the student gap year has been named as the biggest homegrown comedy hit of 2010.
Cher Lloyds X factor audition was the most viewed talent show clip in Britain whilst Justin Beiber’s promotional video for the single ‘Baby’ was the single most viewed clip in the UK in 2010.
Fascinating Aida’s ‘Cheap Flights’, a wityy ode to the frustrations encountered when booking budget flights, was the fifth most popular comedy video of 2011.
“More than ever in 2010 YouTube was a hub of creativity, a hive of hilarity and the place for people to share their passions and entertain themselves online,” said Anna Bateson, Director of Marketing, YouTube UK.
“This year’s top videos lists give us a glimpse at the tremendous growth YouTube has experienced as a company and as an online community in 2010.”
Global video views
Globally, as of November 2010, the most-watched YouTube videos (excluding major label music videos) were:
1. The Bed Intruder Song
2. Tik Tok Kesha Parody: Glitter Puke – Key of Awe$ome #13
3. Greyson Chance Singing Paparazzi
4. Annoying Orange Wazzup
5. Old Spice | The Man Your Man Could Smell Like
6. Yosemitebear Mountain Giant Double Rainbow 1-8-10
7. OK Go – This Too Shall Pass – Rube Goldberg Machine version
8. The Twilights Saga: Eclipse – Trailer
9. Jimmy Surprises Bieber Fan
10. Ken Block’s Gymkhana Three, Part 2; Ultimate Playground; l’Autodrome
And globally, as of November 2010, the most-watched major music label videos were:
1. Justin Bieber – Baby ft. Ludacris
2. Shakira ft. Freshlyground – Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) (The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Song)
3. Eminem – Love The Way You Lie ft. Rihanna
4. Eminem – Not Afraid
5. Rihanna – Rude Boy
6. Justin Bieber – Never Say Never ft. Jaden Smith
7. Justin Bieber – Never Let You Go
8. Lady Gaga – Alejandro
9. Justin Bieber – Somebody To Love Remix ft. Usher
10. Lady Gaga – Telephone ft. Beyonce
