Apple to launch low-cost TV streaming service?

Apple is reportedly planning its own low cost TV streaming service to rival the likes of NetFlix and the upcoming HBO Go.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that by this autimn, Apple expects to have its own TV service, working with all devices powered by its iOS operating system, which includes millions of iPhones, iPads and the lApple TV set-top box.

According to the report, Apple has held talks with a number of leading television groups to offer an Internet-based TV service for its iPhone, iPad and Apple TV set-top box, according to people briefed on the company’s plans.

The service will include a bundle of smaller and cheaper channels when compared to a typical cable subscription, according to the paper’s sources.

The service could run shows from Disney, Fox, CBS and Discovery, the report said.

Pricing details could run at around $20 to $30 according to sources.

Apple has declined to comment on the potential new service.
