Sony launches Playstation Mobile Store

Sony has launched its Playstation Mobile Store today, an online gaming marketplace available for smartphones and tablets.

The idea behind this new venture for the company is to offer consumers a cross platform mobile gaming service, which allows users to purchase a title once via the PlayStation Store, and then play the game on certain Android hardware as well as the PlayStation Vita.
At launch the number of titles only sits at twenty with the likes of Beats Slider, Everybody’s Arcade, Super Crate Box, Wipe!, Hungary Giraffe, and Samurai Beatdown included.
Previously branded as Playstation Suite, the service will appear on Sony Xperia phones and tablets, select Android devices and the Playstation Vita console.
The service will be available in nine countries including Japan, the US and UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Australia.
More importantly the service is not limited to only Sony products as the likes of the HTC One x, One s, One V, and One X+ are compatible with PlayStation Mobile. Sony products that are compatible include the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, Xperia Arc, Xperia Arc S, Xperia Arco, Xperia Arco HD, Sony Tablet P, Tablet S, Xperia S, Xperia Ion, Xperia Tablet S, Xperia T, Xperia V, and the PlayStation Vita.
Android uers need to download the Playstation Mobile for Android app in order to take advantage of the service and choose from a list of 20 paid gaming titles.
Sony also announced that it has added Fujitsu and Sharp as certified vendors, expanding to Fujitsu’s Arrows line of smartphones and tablets as well as Sharp’s new range of mobile devices.
