According to an AdAge report, the retailer is meeting with various advertisers.
The deal would result in a prime placement slot on the popular tablet. According to AdAge, the advertisers will have to pay $600,000 for the slot.
The entire range of Kindle eReaders with ads are offered by the retail giant. The advertisements are currently appearing on the screen savers of the devices.
The ad campaign would last for 60 days and will also contain ads from the “Special Offers” product of the retailer. The advertisers have the possibility to get more ad inventory and also to be included in the public relations push of Amazon, for $1 million.
Amazon has refused to comments on the report. According to Reuters, Amazon would begin shipping a new version of Kindle Fire this July.
Amazon’s Kindle Fire now accounts for 14% of the global tablet market even if only two months had passed since the official debut.
Rumors say that Apple will release a so called iPad mini which will cost around $200-$250. If that happens, the tablet will represent a major competition for the Kindle fire.
