Broadcaster Sky has launched its Sky Go app on Android, giving smartphone users access to its web TV service.
The Sky Go Android app is currently available for what Sky describes as “the most popular handsets,” such as the HTC Sensation and Samsung Galaxy S2.
The app is free and gives Sky customers live access to the Sky Sports channels, the Sky Movies channels, ESPN and Sky News – depending on what they subscribe to – via their mobile at no extra cost.
Following the launch last month of Sky Atlantic as a Sky Go accessible channel, Sky 1, Sky Living and Sky Arts 1 are now also available for Sky customers to watch on the move, whether they use an Android or Apple device.
Sky Sports F1, the satellite TV provider’s new dedicated Formula One channel, will be available via Sky Go on both platforms from next month, with Sky Movies on-demand coming to Android devices later in the year.

“We are always working to ensure that Sky customers have more ways to watch content they love, whether it’s the big Premier League game, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Modern Family or Ruth Jones’ Stella, and this is exactly what this enhanced version of Sky Go delivers.”
