MySupermarket gets $7.4m funding boost

UK shopping and comparison website mySupermarket has closed a $7.4m round led by Greylock Partners and Pitango Venture Capital and angel investors.

mySupermarket has raised $22 million to date. Greylock and Pitango are both leading venture capital firms, and Greylock’s investments include Facebook, Pandora, Wonga and Linkedin.
In tandem with the fundraising, mySupermarket also announces the appointment of former co-CEO and President of Wix.com, Allon Bloch, as CEO. Allon will be driving the expansion of mySupermarket’s business, as well as focussing on website development for its one million site visitors.
Allon was previously Co-CEO and president at Wix.com, the leading online publishing platform, with over five million users, and backed by Benchmark and Bessemer. Prior to that, Allon was a General Partner at JVP, a leading venture capital firm with $800 million under management, and was also a consultant at McKinsey in London.
Allon Bloch, CEO of mySupermarket, commented: “mySupermarket has a strong brand as champion of consumers, and a base of loyal supermarket shoppers who love our unique features. We’re the only shopping site that allows users to fully compare their supermarket shopping basket across multiple supermarkets, compare similar but non-identical products, and ‘swap and save’. We’re delivering a tailored shopping experience to consumers and have the ability to provide bespoke special offers too; providing them with the 50 most relevant to their needs, at any given time, from the 5,000 special offers that are available.
“Overall we are enabling consumers to save significant amounts on their weekly shopping, and look forward to adding a lot of exciting aspects to the site in the near future, including social features and mobile extensions.”
