Twitter debuts $99 subscription tool to promote tweets

Twitter is launching a self-serve advertising subscription aimed at small businesses, letting users run automated ads on the platform for $99 a month.

The Twitter Promote Mode is officially launching today after a test phase earlier in the year.

The tool, currently going live in the UK and US, automatically amplifies users’ tweets and profile after it’s enabled.

The idea is that the automation could save time and effort, because it doesn’t require users to create their own ads or start an ad campaign.

The tweets that are turned into ads through the new program appear just like any other Promoted Tweet, with a small “promoted” badge which indicates they’re an ad.

Participants cannot choose which tweets to promote – they can only toggle Twitter Promote on or off.

In addition, the tweets can be only be targeted by selecting up to five interest or metro locations or regions in a selected country. That’s a less robust targeting solution compared with Twitter’s existing ad platform.

Access to Twitter Promote Mode is available through the Twitter mode app, via an option in the menu drawer.
