Amazon Prime Instant finally comes to Android tablets

Amazon Prime Instant Video now supports Android-powered tablets, almost 7 months after making its Android debut.

Rather than a standalone app, the service is available through the Amazon Appstore.

Prime Instant Video has long been available on iOS, but Amazon always seemed somewhat reluctant to support Android, favouring its own Fire tablets instead. But last September, the retail giant finally brought the service to Android smartphones.

Users can gain access to Amazon Prime on their Android tablets by installing the Amazon App Store; they will then have to disable the “don’t install from unknown sources” feature which appears in the tablet’s security menu after which the App Store will be accessible.

The process doesn’t just end here, since you will still have to download, install, and launch a separate Prime Instant Video application. Nevertheless, if these steps seem tedious, you can always access the Instant Video application on your Android-based Fire tablets built by Amazon itself.
