RadiumOne buys photo sharing app developer Focal Labs

RadiumOne has announced the acquisition of Focal Labs, which is a technology platform and developer of the photo sharing and geo-location apps Clixtr and PicBounce.

Online ad network RadiumOne has bought Focal Labs, a technology platform and developer of the photo sharing and geo location apps Clixtr and PicBounce.
The deal will give RadiumOne social sharing insights for its ShareGraph platform, which analyses anonymous user connections in real-time and finds new audiences that legacy ad networks miss.
In addition, Focal Labs’ expertise in developing consumer apps will benefit RadiumOne’s strategy for creating first-party products.
“Consumers are sharing more and more every day,” said Gurbaksh Chahal, founder and CEO of RadiumOne. “In fact, more than 15 billion items are shared every day across the Open Web – many of which are photos. Focal Labs’ skill and passion for building elegant and successful mobile apps – as demonstrated by millions of downloads of Clixtr and PicBounce over the past three years – was very attractive to us and will complement our first-party product strategy.”
“RadiumOne and Focal Labs share a common vision of creating innovative tools and services that drive sharing and harness social sharing insights to provide better experiences for consumers and advertisers,” said Fergus Hurley, Focal Labs Founding CEO. “We can’t wait to join the RadiumOne team and bring the innovations we developed for Clixtr and PicBounce to the RadiumOne platform.”
“RadiumOne’s vision for understanding the connected consumer – online and in the mobile world – is aligned perfectly with our vision at Focal Labs, especially when combined with the power of ShareGraphTM,” said Focal Labs co-founder Brad Smith.
The Focal Labs team will focus on developing first-party sharing products for consumers with the greater resources of RadiumOne.
