Survey reveals scale of unemployment in Britain

Figures just published by The British Population Survey (BPS) show that the 3 months to December 2010 Unemployment rate was 7.73%.

The stats show unemployment compared to employment across a number of criteria, including location, age, social status and internet access, as well as looking at the number of people seeking work via online recruitment sites.

Both the Office of National Statistics (ONS) and BPS collect their unemployment data in a similar way although ONS use a combination of face to face and telephone interviews whereas BPS use entirely face to face in home interviews.
