Twitter Polls lets users quiz their followers

Twitter has launched a new feature that lets users create simple, two-choice polls inside tweets.

A new ‘Polls’ icon will appear in a user’s tweet compose box, and they can create two options for followers to vote on.

The poll will remain live for 24 hours. Anyone can vote in anyone’s poll, and each vote is kept private.

In a blog post Twitter said: “If you want the public’s opinion on anything — what to name your dog, who will win tonight’s game, which election issue people care most about — there’s no better place to get answers than on Twitter. For poll creators, it’s a new way to engage with Twitter’s massive audience and understand exactly what people think. For those participating, it’s a very easy way to make your voice heard”.

The introduction of polls changes Twitter’s character as a platform, adding interactivity to tweets and providing users with the potential for easy-to-parse feedback from followers.
