To mark the milestone of Facebook signing up it's 500,000,000th user, top betting firm Paddy Power are taking bets on when the leading social networking site will reach one billion users.

With one in twelve people on the planet now using the site, which was originally set up 2004 by student whiz kid Mark Zuckerberg, Paddy Power make the first half of 2013 their 2/1 favourite for Facebook to reach one billion users.

Paddy Power said “Facebook is THE internet success story of recent times and with it's popularity showing no sign of waning surely one billion users most already be on the horizon?”.

When will Facebook reach one billion users?

  • 100/1  2010
  • 33/1    1st Half 2011
  • 10/1    2nd Half 2011
  • 5/2      1st Half 2012
  • 9/4      2nd Half 2012
  • 2/1      1st Half 2013
  • 4/1      2nd Half 2013
