BBC2 comedians star in new online comedy channel

Hoot Comedy, a new free online comedy channel, has launched as a platform for the UK's top comedy talent.

The channel is pitches as a destination for comedians to showcase and experiment with new characters and new ideas, free from restrictive guidelines

Created by James Rawlings, Perrier award-winning comedian and writer, and Ben Bond, BAFTA nominated writer and producer, Hoot Comedy features a number of new series.

BBC2’s Home Time, Emma Fryer and long time collaborator (and co-writer of Home Time) Neil Edmond who present their latest creation ‘The Saint’ – a new series exclusive to Hoot Comedy which follows intimate SKYPE-jacked conversations, and finds out first hand just how altruistic some people really are.

Double Perrier winning team Laura Solon and Bill Willbond are also behind the new series ‘Peter and Alison’ featuring a middle class couple suffering in the Credit Crunch. Peter’s lost his job at his bank so they try to get themselves out of a perfect financial storm by becoming the internet’s answer to Richard and Judy advising the many middle class people in the same boat how to get through it.

‘Sherlock Holmes and the Mystery of the Turkish Spoon’ also launches on Hoot Comedy. Written by Ben Bond & James Rawlings, and directed by BAFTA winning animation director Jim le Fevre, the series follows Watson and Sherlock travelling the globe, taking as many drugs as possible to solve the mystery of the Turkish Spoon.

As part of their social media strategy, Hoot Comedy have hired social media agency Hot Cherry to raise awareness of Hoot Comedy among influential online communities and drive traffic to the site. Hot Cherry will also look after Hoot Comedy’s social network strategy which will be rolled out over the next 6 months.

Hoot Comedy was set up by James Rawlings and Ben Bond as a place for the UK's top comedy talent to experiment with new characters and new ideas, free from restrictive guidelines. Over the coming months Hoot Comedy will bring brand new comedy, for free, every week with established and new talent alike.
