Dailymotion signs roster of new web TV shows

Dailymotion has struck a number of new content partnerships, as the web video entertainment site sees viewing figures rise.

The firm has struck  a partnership with Evil Global Corp. and its principal Hayden Black, creator for the production of the new musical comedy sci-fi series, “The Cabonauts.”

Dailymotion will serve as the exclusive Web video partner for the launch of the show and will provide advertisers with the opportunity to reach its online audience.

Set in a space cab, each episode of “The Cabonauts” will follow characters as they take various passengers to their intergalactic destinations.

Reminiscent of popular television series such as “Flight of the Conchords,” series characters, which will include prominent celebrities making their web-based content debut, will break out into original song.

“Dailymotion has one of the best track records when it comes to building audiences for premium, original Web content,” said Hayden Black, creator of “The Cabonauts.” “It’s a huge opportunity for us to be able to leverage Dailymotion’s expertise for the launch of our new Web video series.”

The Cabonauts follows the success of Dailymotion’s exclusive premier showing of the high-quality fan film “The Hunt for Gollum.”

Based on notes from “The Lord of the Rings” and made by 100 fan volunteers, “The Hunt for Gollum” saw over a million views in its first week on Dailymotion.com.

Meanwhile, t5m, a video content production, syndication and sponsorship agency, has partnered with Dailymotion to offer their users in-depth interviews with high-profile personalities and backstage coverage of the biggest events in the entertainment calendar.

The partnership kicked off with coverage of the BAFTA TV Awards, and viewers can also see recent events such as the launch of Lisa B’s new charity Mothers4Children as well as music and fashion events including The BRITs and London Fashion Week.

Twitter is now a 'destination website' and that means it is gunning for Facebook, but cleverly avoiding a direct dogfight. It’s more an information network than a social network and so is offering much, much more. Tanya Goodin, CEO of search and social conversion agency Tamar comments…
