UK ‘online dating hub’ goes live

DatingTrail, a web site designed to bring dating sites, events and matchmaking together in destination, has launched this week.

The brainchild of London-based serial internet entrepreneurs, Andrew Summersgill and Richard Speigal, DatingTrail.co.uk has been in beta testing for a year.

“We are confident we now have the formula right – underlined by our 6,000 plus visitors every month since we soft launched the site.  We realised dating in the UK had undergone a major change over the last five years. Organised dating activities, both online and real-world events, have lost their stigma and are a genuinely successful, accepted means for normal people to find a partner. While dating online continues to grow apace, we saw a clear need for a central hub for the industry,” says Summersgill.

The free site lets visitors can browse dating events taking place in the UK from major organisers and t smaller companies. At any one time there are up to 800 UK events listed, 100+ singles holidays and 20+ online dating sites.

DatingTrail.co.uk allows users to submit impartial reviews. The user review system allows people to award an overall star rating for each organiser. They can write a short comment to justify their rating. Organisers are listed on the site in order of their star rating.

Users can search for events such as speed dating, wine tasting dating events and lock and key parties in your area - simply by entering your postcode. DatingTrail also features articles, tips and advice from leading dating experts.

“Some events might not be right for you. Some dating sites might fall short of what they promise. By reviewing honest opinions from real users and event attendees, we can save you time and money, and help you find the love of your life with ease,” adds Summersgill.

Summersgill is no stranger to the dating game. He's the 'love guru' behind orginaldating.com, one of London's first and most popular speed dating organisers. “Our industry experience allows us to cut through the gloss. We know what works - both online and at events, and we're not scared to point out the good and bad points of any site,” he says.

“The UK dating market has exploded over the last five years and there's never been more ways to meet people - be it online or at dating events. DatingTrail is designed to help UK singles navigate their way through the maze of modern dating. Simply put - DatingTrail is a one-stop shop for dating.” concludes Summersgill.

Twitter is now a 'destination website' and that means it is gunning for Facebook, but cleverly avoiding a direct dogfight. It’s more an information network than a social network and so is offering much, much more. Tanya Goodin, CEO of search and social conversion agency Tamar comments…
