Case study: 40% turnover rise for £350 per-month search campaign

Search marketing agency Top Click Media is running an SEO/PCC campaign for corporate events company Contraband. This case study looks at how they managed to increase turnover by 40%, for which Contraband invested just £350 per month.

Introduction

Contraband International is one of the largest corporate entertainment agencies in the UK. The agency delivers innovative, creative and exciting events for a range of occasions, from international business events to private parties.

 The Business Challenge

Contraband needed to fully realize the potential of online marketing. The agency had been using a combination of word of mouth and traditional marketing to create awareness and drive new business but results had been modest and mostly immeasurable. They looked to online to drive new business, extend awareness of the brand and reach new markets as the corporate entertainment industry grew along with the competition.

Following a competitive pitch Top Click Media was appointed to manage its digital marketing campaign. This included SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and PPC (Pay Per Click).

SEO Objectives

When Top Click Media took over Contraband were appearing nowhere on the 3 major search engines for important search terms related to their industry.

Top Click’s goal was to get Contraband to page one on Google, Yahoo and MSN for such keywords.

Within six months of taking over Contraband started appearing page one for important, powerful terms like “corporate entertainment”, “event entertainment” and “party ideas”.

Measurement and Results

The natural search campaign has resulted in a substantial increase in visitor traffic and sales.

By obtaining top ranking positions for major keywords Contraband’s natural search engine traffic has increased by 301.7% in 08 vs 07. Turnover has increased by an impressive 40%. Not bad for a £350 a month investment.

Archie Archer, Managing Director of Contraband International, said: “Top Click Media is an online marketing company with expertise in all disciplines. The company has had to understand the intricacies of our business and the market. For a modest fee they have achieved fantastic results for us, much more than we ever expected.”

Twitter is now a 'destination website' and that means it is gunning for Facebook, but cleverly avoiding a direct dogfight. It’s more an information network than a social network and so is offering much, much more. Tanya Goodin, CEO of search and social conversion agency Tamar comments…
