Case study: Web traffic doubles for Sony Europe after SEO investment

The UK’s largest independent web marketing consultancy High Position has helped Sony double the traffic to its websites using Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).

High Position, which specialises in organic SEO, was chosen to enhance Sony’s main UK website and 37 other European sites in September 2008. By December, the website traffic to these sites had increased by 122% compared to the same period in 2007.

High Position’s Managing Director, Steve Dart, said: “When we started our project, Sony’s natural search traffic was increasing on average by 4.4%, year on year. To drive web hits by 122% is a phenomenal result and will help Sony generate more online sales.”

Per Burmeister, Manager of Web Marketing, Sony Europe, said: “SEO becomes a more and more important marketing tool to generate cost efficient traffic and, so far, has been worth every penny.”

Founded in 1995, High Position applies optimisation techniques to target the more difficult to achieve generic search terms that deliver the highest volume of traffic to a website.

It has achieved number one positions for generic search terms in Google for clients including LloydsTSB ‘business loan’, Budget Car & Van Rental ‘car hire’, haart Estate Agents ‘estate agent’ and Hillarys Blinds ‘blinds’.

High Position was voted Best UK Search agency by topSEOs in January 2009 and is continuing with its growth strategy to strengthen its 40-strong team, which includes Head of Search Shuan Parker, Commercial Director Terry Heffernan – who is a former IT Manager for GlaxoSmithKline, and Non-Executive Director Guilio Brunini, Yahoo’s former European Head of Marketing Solutions and now CEO of BrandAmp.

Twitter is now a 'destination website' and that means it is gunning for Facebook, but cleverly avoiding a direct dogfight. It’s more an information network than a social network and so is offering much, much more. Tanya Goodin, CEO of search and social conversion agency Tamar comments…
