Jesse Vile, the producer of the Raindance Film Festival, is joining Dailymotion as its Creative Agent.
Reporting to Creative Director, Digby Lewis, Vile will be responsible for managing the site’s community of independent filmmakers and expanding the Motionmaker programme to bring the best emerging talent to the platform.
His remit is to continue to attract even more quality content, engage with and curate material from the existing Motionmaker community and ensure their content is viewed and distributed online and offline.
Dailymotion is the world's largest independent video sharing site and the appointment follows a partnership with Raindance on this year’s film festival and sponsorship of the British Independent Film Awards.
Raindance is the UK’s largest independent film festival, showcasing shorts and features from around the world and specialising in directorial debuts in London’s West End every October.
Jesse Vile oversaw the production of the entire festival from 2006 to 2008. He joined Raindance in 2004, working in script development initially, and then print traffic before taking over the role of producer. He participated in choosing the Raindance award at the British Independent Film Awards.
Vile also secured sponsorship from brands including Canon, Adobe, Kodak, Sony Ericsson and Delta Air Lines and established media partnerships with The Hollywood Reporter and The Independent.
Digby Lewis, Creative Director of Dailymotion UK said: “Jesse Vile has an excellent reputation in the UK film industry and a solid network of directors, distributors, writers and talent which he can put to use in growing our Motionmaker programme. We worked very well together on the Raindance Film Festival and the Short Circuit Award and this role offers a natural step up for Jesse to take his offline expertise to reach a global community online”.
Jesse Vile, Creative Agent at Dailymotion added: “I enjoyed working with Dailymotion on the Raindance Film Festival and was impressed by the team’s commitment to the independent film and TV industry and mission to bring their work to a global audience. This job challenges me to put my offline skills to use in exhibiting and distributing film online which has a bigger audience and more possibilities for innovation and creativity.”
Prior to working in the film industry Vile taught English. He has a Master of Arts in Global Media from the University of East London and a degree in Film and Media Arts from Temple University in Philadelphia.
