Nike reports spike in online sales

Sports brand Nike has seen a sharp increase in online sales as shoppers look to cut costs during the recession.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum on Saturday, Mark Parker, Nike CEO, said:  "We've seen a fairly dramatic increase in online sales."

He added that the rise as driven in part by cost-conscious shoppers conserving petrol.

Nike, the world's largest athletic shoe and clothing maker, last month reported a 9 percent rise in quarterly net profit.
