VisitBritain appoints The Search Works

May 05, 2009

Digital marketing firm The Search Works has been selected by national tourism agency VisitBritain and VisitEngland the national tourist board to increase natural search visits to their websites.

The appointment comes in a bid to boost the number of overseas visitors to Britain.

In one of the largest SEO pitches of the 2009, The Search Works was selected for their ability to deliver global SEO across 42 countries, whilst integrating it with VisitBritain’s PPC activity.

Commenting on the appointment, Justin Reid, head of online marketing for VisitBritain, said: “In the run up to the Olympics, our goal is to reach even more consumers worldwide to promote Britain as a leading holiday destination. SEO is an ever-changing area that requires a special blend of skills, as such, we require a specialist capable of handling a project of this size.

“We selected The Search Works because of their expertise and thorough understanding of our demands and because of their reputation for maintaining the online presence of major consumer brands. In these challenging times, consumers are having to consider their holiday choices against other large purchases, like a new car or white goods. We want to ensure that they are as aware of visitbritain.com as they are of other consumer brands.”

Twitter is now a 'destination website' and that means it is gunning for Facebook, but cleverly avoiding a direct dogfight. It’s more an information network than a social network and so is offering much, much more. Tanya Goodin, CEO of search and social conversion agency Tamar comments…
