MEC Interaction agency has launched an ad for the new Star Trek movie exclusive to the iPhone, in partnership with rich media and video advertising network VideoEgg.

The video-based ad will be served on the iPhone via popular iPhone applications, such as Solitaire and Urban Spoon.

This approach is expected to be effective in reaching out to tech-savvy “Trekkies” as well as a new audience in the lead-up to the film’s UK release on 8th May.

“As a Media agency, our clients look to us for creativity and to be at the forefront of the rapidly evolving digital adverting space,” said Michael Beecroft, Head of Digital Trading, MEC Interaction. “Our partnership with VideoEgg allows us to use the iPhone to reach Star Trek’s tech-savvy audience, as well as a younger generation of fans, via a medium that reflects the film’s high-tech, futuristic outlook.”

The VideoEgg adFrames unit allows people to choose whether they want to interact with an advert – ensuring that only interested people engage with VideoEgg campaigns.

They will then experience the full-screen takeover with the film trailer, which has been designed by Feref to build excitement about the film. The VideoEgg AdFrames ad unit is designed to be flexible and mesh with a variety of page, widget, mobile and flash-based environments.

Twitter is now a 'destination website' and that means it is gunning for Facebook, but cleverly avoiding a direct dogfight. It’s more an information network than a social network and so is offering much, much more. Tanya Goodin, CEO of search and social conversion agency Tamar comments…
