Multimap debuts free mapping Add-in for Microsoft Outlook

Added:
Apr 30, 2009

Multimap is launching a new mapping Add-in for Microsoft Outlook, letting users insert maps into emails for free.

The tool enables people to add maps to their meeting requests so their customers, colleagues or friends can find the meeting location.

Users click the new ‘add map’ icon and a new meeting request window will pop up for insertion of maps to meetings, contacts and emails.

Once the tool has been installed people can also add maps to emails and view maps in their Outlook contacts meaning that directions, maps or Bird’s Eye views are now just a click away. The Add-in has an auto update feature built in and will soon be available to conveniently add maps to people’s own email signatures as well.

The new mapping tool is available to all Outlook 2007 users at http://explore.multimap.com/Toolbox/toolsSpecific_outlookaddin.aspx

Stuart Anderson, Marketing Communications Manager at Multimap, said: “The launch of the new Microsoft Office Add-in for Multimap continues our strategy to grow the business and acquire new customers.  Adding maps to Outlook puts Multimap one click away from millions of Outlook users”.

This launch follows the appointment of Stuart as Marketing Communications Manager and Jo Wickremasinghe as Head of Product Management, Consumer Local & Mapping, International, Microsoft.

Mutimap is also running an online consumer marketing campaign with iCrossing and UM delivered a radio promotion with Magic 105.4 where listeners used clues to look on Multimap for a local London landmark then ring into the ‘drive time’ show to win prizes.

Twitter is now a 'destination website' and that means it is gunning for Facebook, but cleverly avoiding a direct dogfight. It’s more an information network than a social network and so is offering much, much more. Tanya Goodin, CEO of search and social conversion agency Tamar comments…

Guest comment: No rival to the SMS text exists in the market today
SMS is the obvious “lowest common denominator” mobile marketing solution... yet critics still talk about apps and website and vouchers. Darren Daws, Managing Director at Txtlocal argues why SMS is still the best mobile marketing medium, even on smartphones.
