Mobile and online flirting service Flirtomatic has partnered with mobile messaging firm Sharpcards.

The deal enables Flirtomatic to provide branded content to its users without having to design and develop everything in-house.

The strategic partnership will give Flirtomatic users access to over 15,000 items of licensed content from some of the world's most popular brands, including Purple Ronnie, Cartoon Network and Forever Friends.

As part of Flirtomatic's strategy to widen its revenue channels, users can purchase 'Flirt Points' to buy exclusive Sharpcards content at the 'Flirtshop' and use that to send creative messages, virtual gifts and mobile greetings to others.

The agreement covers Flirtomatic's 900,000 users in the UK and Germany following Flirtomatic's entry into the German market earlier this month.

Mark Curtis, CEO Flirtomatic commented. "Teaming up with Sharpcards means that our users now have access to even more high quality content which we can refresh on a much more frequent basis. With an amazing portfolio of content from some of the most exciting brands at our fingertips, we know we have found the right partner for our needs. Sharpcards is the pioneer in mobile messaging and with its truly global reach, they will be a key partner as we expand our presence and offerings."

Will Walsh, founder and CEO of Sharpcards added. "Like Flirtomatic, we pride ourselves on knowing what customers want and how they want it. Flirtomatic has seen outstanding growth in a short space of time and now that it has expanded into Europe, we relish the opportunity to further extend our international user base."

An initial trial with Sharpcards has been undertaken since Valentines Day and proved highly successful.

The agreement is on a revenue share basis, with Sharpcards maintaining the mobile licensing rights of its content.

Twitter is now a 'destination website' and that means it is gunning for Facebook, but cleverly avoiding a direct dogfight. It’s more an information network than a social network and so is offering much, much more. Tanya Goodin, CEO of search and social conversion agency Tamar comments…
