Channel 4 Education, in conjunction with Raw Television and digital agency Airlock, launch a social education project called Battlefront this week - inviting the public to participate via an extensive online campaign.

Battlefront will consist of a TV series and a central website, as well as a strong web presence over other sites, including segments made in collaboration with social networking site Bebo (where users can find unique video content relating to the series).  It seeks to improve social education and challenge some of society's ills by inviting a series of "campaigners" to tackle individual issues such as knife crime, as well as promoting acts of kindness.

The nineteen campaigners already chosen will be joined by a twentieth, selected from those who have participated in the activities promoted online. These campaigners will be asked to use their social networking skills to promote their own projects.

Likewise, viewers will be invited to learn more by accessing video diaries, blog content and advice, subsequently distributing information on campaigns within their own social networking environments.

Battlefront can be found at www.battlefront.co.uk and the Bebo site www.bebo.com/battlefront.  The programme airs on Channel 4 in December.
