Squaremeal opens site to amateur restaurant critics

Oct 10, 2008

Restaurant review guide Squaremeal has opened its site to amateur restaurant critics as part of a range of new user features, developed by digital agency Aardvark Media.

Users can now post their own reviews which appear alongside official Square Meal ones and rate restaurants out of ten using the same criteria of food & drink, ambience, service & value for money.

The best reviews will feature in a list of ‘Editors Picks’ and submissions can also win prizes like case of champagne or a dinner for two at any restaurant in the UK.

Once signed up as reviewers, additional features allow members to create lists of their favourite restaurants, recommend which are best for work, romance or other criteria and nominate their favourite restaurant reviewers.

“The new functions make it really easy for restaurant goers to share their thoughts and passion for food through the Square Meal website” said Chris Johns of Aardvark Media. “It gives users many more reasons to visit the site each month and adds real value to their Square Meal experience”
