Yahoo in talks to buy AOL- report

Added:
Nov 21, 2008

Yahoo! is reportedly in negotiations to buy Time Warner’s AOL business, following the collapse of its search ad deal with Google.

Financial news agency Bloomberg reports that Yahoo is bidding for AOL's web advertising business in return for a stake in a new combined company.

Executives from Yahoo! and Time Warner have met in the past few weeks to negotiate terms for the prospective deal, Bloomberg said, citing unnamed sources.

Yahoo is hoping the deal would boost its display ad reach, but Bloomberg said the deal would result  in a cut in staff at both firms.
