Trutap debuts ‘next-gen’ mobile social network

Added:
Nov 18, 2008

Trutap has updated its free mobile social network with a raft of new features.

The new application includes a personal newsfeed, 'who's online', status & location, extended profile, searchable user directory, private messaging, email, SMS, blogging, photo-sharing and mobile IM.

Trutap recently announced that it is partnering with leading content providers to deliver daily news and entertainment to its user base.

Trutap is targeted at mid-to-high-range mobile phones that make up 85% of the market.

The new version will be rolled out to over 450 mobile phones by the end of 2008 and many more early in 2009.

Doug Richard, Trutap CEO, said:"The new version of Trutap raises the bar for mobile social networking. We're giving users a real-time updates from their friends, wherever they are and we're doing it in an application that's fast and visually stunning. We're aiming to provide our users with one of the best user experiences on a mobile social network and for many of our users who can't afford fancy phones, this new version gives them everything they need. I like to call it 'the iPhone for everyone else'".

SMS is the obvious “lowest common denominator” mobile marketing solution... yet critics still talk about apps and website and vouchers. Darren Daws, Managing Director at Txtlocal argues why SMS is still the best mobile marketing medium, even on smartphones.
