PureSolo a new personalised music learning technology venture, has launched.

PureSolo (www.puresolo.com) is a software and download service which offers musicians professionally produced backing tracks from a catalogue of over 10,000 tracks across classical, jazz and popular music genres.

The site lets users practice and record their instruments or voice over professionally produced backing tracks by downloading the new PureSolo Player.

The PureSolo team consists of veteran session musician John Thirkell, who has played with the likes of David Bowie, Jamiroquai, Ray Charles and Level 42; financial investor David Kaplan, and technology entrepreneur Jonathan Knight who have teamed up to launch PureSolo which launches in the UK today.

Users download the PureSolo Player for free and receive one free download of their choice when they register to help them on their way.

Tracks from the growing catalogue are then available to download through the PureSolo Player and are priced from £0.99 to £1.99.

Once downloaded, a track can be used and re-used an unlimited number of times and can be burned to CD or emailed through the PureSolo Player.

User generated music and content can also be uploaded to the PureSolo social network, where they can connect with like-minded musicians and get their friends to rate their tracks.

Every track and digital sheet music in the PureSolo library is exclusively-crafted and licensed, through deals with the music’s original publishers.

David Kaplan, co-founder and CEO said: “The digital music revolution has affected all elements of the industry, but for many music enthusiasts, the barrier to entry for actually creating music has been relatively high. As a virtual recording studio – complete with your own session musicians - PureSolo gives anyone the ability to take part in the music making process and to share that experience, and say “that’s me you’re hearing” to friends and family.”

Kaplan is a former partner of Goldman Sachs where he spent 22 years managing businesses in several product lines, focusing on European equities.

John Thirkell, co-founder and COO said: “For musicians and music learners, the ability to regularly hear themselves performing with professional accompanists is a key part of the learning process. It’s not always possible to play and practice with a pianist, band or orchestra, so PureSolo helps musicians of all styles and levels to gain that benefit in a simple and accessible way.”

Thirkell has spent 25 years in the music industry as a trumpet player, producer and entrepreneur. He has performed on over 5000 recordings, 40 top ten albums and 5 No.1 hits.

The third co-founder and CTO, Jonathan Knight is a private investor and risk consultant.  He is a former Managing Director with 20 years experience at Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers.

The PureSolo Player is available as a free download from today at www.puresolo.com
