MSN debuts new ad format with Madagascar campaign

Added:
Nov 28, 2008

Paramount Pictures UK is promoting its latest film Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa with a one-day homepage takeover of MSN, using a new ‘Sidekick’ ad format.

The campaign was created one Eyeblaster ad technology platform, with the creative concept being developed by the integrated advertising agency FEREF.

Users can sample exclusive clips, games and competitions, all from within the confines of the advertising.

The new format lets the user expand the ad across the MSN home page, with custom created animations.

This new creative placement has been developed in conjunction with Microsoft and Eyeblaster, labelled the Sidekick.

The initiative to launch the campaign with MSN, was taken by Paramount Pictures’ appointed media agency MEC, continuing Paramount’s drive to deliver innovative campaigns to their potential audience.

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa previews on November 29 and 30, and is in cinemas on December 5. The MSN homepage takeover appears on  November 28th.

After today, people can see and interact with the ad by clicking here.

Guest comment: E-commerce innovation’s what we need
After a burst of innovative activity in e-commerce over the past few years (from single page checkout to shop the catwalk), 2009 saw innovation all but grind to a standstill. While this is to a certain extent understandable due to the torrid time traditional retail has had through the recession it has lead to all e-commerce sites looking pretty much the same… and this isn’t good for the e-tail business. Is this going to continue into 2010 or are there already new ideas that are set to burst onto the retail scene? Fadi Shuman, co-founder of digital agency Pod1, looks at the outlook for e-commerce in 2010.
