Digital divide ‘to cost families £285 this Xmas’

Added:
Nov 25, 2008

Be Broadband urges UK shoppers to take advantage of the savings available to broadband users, revealing a typical family can save more than £285 on a typical Christmas shopping list.

With families expected to tighten their spending this year, Be has researched the savings that families can gain by using a combination of internet shopping and cashback offers from major retailers a typical family could save over 32% this Christmas.

Examples of the savings available from Be’s research include a massive 75% saving on designer digital watches and £50 off GPS satellite navigation.

The research was conducted to coincide with the launch of the Be broadband promotion on Quidco, com, where new customers to Be can save up to £76 and get free connection if they buy the Be Value product through www.quidco.com/bethere-co-uk.

“The shopping list we put together would have cost £876 if we went to the high street. With online shopping you’ll quickly find massive discounts from respected retailers online” said Felix Geyr, Managing Director at Be Broadband. “Our customers tell us that high-speed is great for multimedia and gaming, but these figures show it can replace the high street as well.”

Right to reply: The New Twitter – a sticky, revenue-rich service that blitzes the third-party apps
Twitter is now a 'destination website' and that means it is gunning for Facebook, but cleverly avoiding a direct dogfight. It’s more an information network than a social network and so is offering much, much more. Tanya Goodin, CEO of search and social conversion agency Tamar comments…

Guest comment: No rival to the SMS text exists in the market today
SMS is the obvious “lowest common denominator” mobile marketing solution... yet critics still talk about apps and website and vouchers. Darren Daws, Managing Director at Txtlocal argues why SMS is still the best mobile marketing medium, even on smartphones.
