Supermarket chain ASDA has begun selling digital versions of popular magazines, through a partnership with John Menzies Digital.
As part of the new ASDA Direct online service, customers can buy digital versions of consumer magazines to download to their computers instantly.
The launch will be supported with an excellent introductory offer enabling consumers to try the service for free.
Customers register via the ASDA Digital Newsagent and choose from over 100 magazines to download and read – titles include Nuts, Red, Chat, heat Stuff and the BBC’s Top Gear.
The offer is available to the first 10,000 people, and will close by 31st November.
Promotions will be across Asda.com, in addition to a range of direct customer communications through email and the magazine and additional channels.
With the biggest and broadest range of UK consumer magazines available in this format, the broad and high profile portfolio will match ASDA.com’s customer’s needs perfectly.
Tony Prescott, Multi Channel Trading Director, ASDA Stores, said: “Since launch, ASDA Direct has gone from strength to strength and we believe this to be an important addition to the site. We will continue to develop further content to maximise customer’s shopping experience.”
Sarah Clegg, Managing Director of John Menzies Digital, said: “A partnership with a household name such as ASDA is a perfect platform for us to take our technology to a mainstream UK audience. The ASDA Digital Newsagent will provide ASDA customers with a new exciting way to receive and read leading magazine brands.
“ASDA is embracing new technology and including our digital portfolio within the newly created ASDA Direct which reflects their keenness to offer their consumer breadth of choice and the very latest technology available on the market.”
