Play.com revamps site

Online retailer Play.com has undergone a redesign to improve the customer shopping experience and providing clearer navigation on the site.

The move follows six months of research and development, including user testing and an evaluation of rival e-commerce sites. The research resulted in Play repositioning the shopping basket and relocated the search bar tool to simplify the shopping experience.

Stuart Rowe, Play.com COO, commented: “As with all technology it is important to innovate and modernise. The previous site served us well but it was felt both internally and externally that the design was starting to look dated but more importantly, as our product lines continued to grow, the customer experience was becoming more complicated.

“The previous Play.com site was vertical so that if you searched the DVD category, you would simply get DVD results; the new version builds on that, showcasing related products that the customer may have not known we sell, for example t-shirts related to music artists – a very fast growing sector for Play.”
