A number of pressure groups have formed to protest the possible link up between Yahoo! and Google, following the collapse of Microsoft’s bid approach for Yahoo! earlier this month.
BBC News reports that some advocacy groups are already crying foul at the thought of Google and Yahoo working more closely together.
Gary flowers of the Black Leadership Forum told BBC News, “We all suffer in such mega mergers.” The justice Department is reportedly looking closely at the trial Google and Yahoo did in April. A close working relationship with Yahoo would give it a 90% share of the search industry.
An agreement between the two would also have to be approved by antitrust regulators. The fear with a partnership of Google and Yahoo is that users couldn’t get access to information without Google’s approval.
