UK 'leads Western Europe in mobile advertising'

Nearly two-thrids (65%) of all ad requests in Western Europe come from the UK, according to new figures from mobile ad marketplace AdMob.

AdMob put the precise figure of UK ad requests on its network at 196,323,883 during May 2008, representing 65.1% of the its entire Western European figure.

 

The May metric report, which focused on Western European data, revealed the rapid growth of mobile internet usage across the region.

 

Spain showed the most rapid traffic growth on AdMob’s network with a 270 per cent increase since September 2007and Italy came in close second with 210 per cent.

 

According to AdMob’s figures, the iPhone is also grabbing a significant market share across Europe, dominating the top ten device rankings in France, Germany the Netherlands and Spain.

 

Other key findings include:

 

Network ad impressions increased 16.9% (3,034,661,966 for May vs. 2,595,092,049 for April). AdMob now serves more than 100 million impressions daily.

 

AdMob served ads in 230 countries in May with 89 countries having more than 1 million impressions.

22.4 per cent of ad requests in the AdMob network worldwide were from Smartphones.

 

The RAZR V3, Nokia N70 and SonyEricsson K800i retained the top device spots in the US, India and UK respectively.

 

The Palm Centro makes its first appearance in the Top 20 devices worldwide in May as the number eight device.
