Independent TV producer RDF Media Group has chosen creative digital agency pslondon to create and run the national launch campaign for its new comedy portal, comedydemon.com.

pslondon has created a multi-media advertising campaign, centered around an animated TV campaign to be broadcast on Dave from mid July, supported by digital advertising on key sites including YouTube, Facebook and Kontraband plus face to face activity at the Edinburgh Festival in August.

The campaign features the comedydemon.com “character” burning through a variety of media and comedy clips, before closing with the line “One hell of a laugh.”

pslondon also created the visual identity for comedydemon.com, developed the launch strategy, with assistance from media planners, BLM Quantum, and is now managing the marketing launch.

Comedydemon.com is the first direct-to-consumer content business from RDF Digital, part of the RDF Media Group.

The site features over 2,000 free short form clips ranging from 30 seconds to 10 minutes in length, plus more than 1,000 hours of download-to-own (DTO) long form programming.

The content is sourced from the BBC (including BBC Worldwide and BBC Audio), Channel 4, Aardman Animations, Talkback Thames, Channel X and Tiger Aspect.

Clips on offer will feature Peep Show, The Catherine Tate Show, The Mighty Boosh, Rab C Nesbitt and Black Books.

Sound clips from BBC Audio content include Dad’s Army, Blackadder and Fawlty Towers. There are also likely to be exclusive commissions for Aardman Animations, Hat Trick Productions and Talkback Thames.

“pslondon have played a key role in bringing comedydemon.com to life” said Debbie Manners, Managing Director of Comedydemon.com.  “They have taken a hands-on approach to developing the marketing launch of our first direct-to-consumer business, as well as providing an advertising campaign that tells people exactly what we have on offer.

They are fantastic partners who really understand what we want to achieve, resulting in a truly integrated marketing campaign.”

Robert Pepper, pslondon’s Strategy Partner said “ComedyDemon.com is set to be the place people will look online for broadcast quality comedy that’s very, very funny and we’re delighted to have played our part in making this happen.
