Tiscali TV revamps search tool

Added:
Jun 03, 2008

Tiscali has launched a new search tool for Tiscali TV subscribers, designed to help viewers instantly locate on demand, Catch Up and broadcast programming.

The tool means users can search via programme, cast member or subject and find it on Tiscali TV, irrespective of channels and method of distribution.

Searches can be conducted across a specific channel or all channels, as well as specifying broadcast only, on demand only, Catch Up TV or all of the above.

Users can look for programmes by title as well as by credits, including cast members and even by subject matter, with a simple SMS style text input making entries quick and easy.

Results are clearly listed by title and relevance, displaying on demand content first, followed by scheduled programming, then Catch Up TV, as well as delivering other findings based on programme synopses and credits.

From that list viewers have can set reminders, book recordings, add to favourites or navigate straight to that programme if it’s showing.

If the function is triggered from within a channel then users can even continue to watch that programme in the quarter screen of the search area.

Simon Hunt, Director of Television for Tiscali, says: “The consumer and content are at the heart of everything we do, with this new search tool representing a continuation of our efforts to innovate and make the viewing experience for Tiscali TV subscribers as simple, easy and fun as possible. “

Other recent updates to the service include an easier to use navigation system for Catch Up TV, as well as new listing for all on demand programmes allowing viewers to browse through content, regardless of which channel it is on.
