Tamar launches Lifeline Charity

Search marketing agency Tamar has launched the Tamar Lifeline Charity to spearhead three charity projects in the UK, China and South Africa.

The Tamar Lifeline Charity has been set up as a registered charity by staff from the London, Shanghai and Cape Town offices who volunteer their time to help local issues affecting the three countries in which Tamar operates.

The firm’s charity project last year, where all Tamar’s employees travelled to South Africa to rebuild a school in one of Cape Town’s most deprived townships, has inspired the teams to work on schemes closer to home.

The Shanghai office will undertake a project to help the Shanghai Yue Miao Institution for the Handicapped. The London office will be stationed at the mouth of the river Tamar in Cornwall, for an environmental project to conduct a beach clean and eco-work on the surrounding greenery.

The Cape Town office will return to Vuyani Primary School in Guguletu to continue the work that the entire company undertook on last year’s trip.

Tamar’s CEO, Tanya Goodin commented, “One of Tamar’s core values since our founding thirteen years ago is to give something significant back to the communities in which we live and work. With offices stationed in very different regions in the world, it is extremely important to all our staff to contribute to the wider community. With three separate tasks set to take place, this year’s project is our most ambitious to date.”

Everyone in the company bears responsibility for a mammoth fundraising effort to cover the cost of building materials and equipment. The target for fundraising is £30,000, with an online donation system on the charity website www.tamarlifelinecharity.org to help the company reach its target. All donations by UK taxpayers qualify for Gift Aid.

A series of successful events have been organised to help fundraising so far, including a charity pub quiz in Chiswick and a charity party at Soho’s Studio Valbonne in Soho.
