The site attracts some 36.6 million unique users per month, offering a mix of official content from partners such as Channel 4, Turner Broadcasting and Universal Music, user-generated content and moderated content uploaded by approved ‘Motionmakers’, which is enhanced by Dailymotion’s programming team.

Walton will oversee bespoke content and commercial deals including, homepage and channel sponsorships and in-stream advertising, including pre-roll, post-roll and toaster advertising, as well as a range of other creative solutions.

Walton previously worked with Kate Burns at Google for five years and before that at AltaVista from 2000 to 2002 where he managed advertising across a range of formats in the UK and across Europe.

Kate Burns, UK Managing Director of Dailymotion, explains, ‘Gareth is a great salesman and an excellent team leader.  He has the right mix of commercial acumen, entrepreneurial skills and industry contacts to ensure he builds a team to produce partnerships that enhance the site experience for our visitors whilst creating a growing revenue stream for the UK business.’

Commenting on his new role, Gareth Walton, added: Video-sharing is an exciting and growing medium and Dailymotion has a unique proposition.  Our quality content and player will attract quality partners and advertisers.  We can offer an array  of creative opportunities  from content promotions and product placement to channel sponsorship to in-stream advertising.  With a growing UK audience to go with it, advertisers now have more choice where to promote their brands.
