Online dating service DatingDirect.com has struck a partnership with Orange UK to provide a converged web and mobile online dating service for the mobile network’s customers.

Visitors to the Orange UK web portal will be offered access to the DatingDirect.com services via a dating channel on the Orange website hosted by DatingDirect.com.

DatingDirect.com members who currently access the dating services through the website will be offered the additional opportunity to access and interact using their Orange mobile.

The mobile platform, specifically developed and optimised for Orange mobile, provides a number of features including message and alert retrieval, instant chat and allows for searching for members live online by geographical area.

Orange mobile users can also register and subscribe to the mobile dating service direct from their handset.

Alistair Shrimpton, UK MD of DatingDirect.com said: “This seamless dating experience associates two market leading brands with similar ambitions in providing converged services for their customers. Moderation and the secure and controlled environment of the dating service was a key factor for Orange choosing the company as a partner.”

Matthew Kirk, Director of Portals, Orange UK commented: “The innovative service DatingDirect.com offers allows us to provide our users with a truly converged dating experience in a secure environment. Partnering with DatingDirect.com means that Orange users can access their dating account whether online or on their mobile, which means that they enjoy a familiar and consistent experience wherever they are or whenever they want.”
