Shopping.com builds UK management team

Shopping.com has made two senior appointments as the online comparison shopping network expands it UK presence.
The hires come as the eBay-owned site saw its number one ranking in the UK shopping comparison market by Hitwise for the months April – June and Nielsen Netratings, for the fifth consecutive month.
The newly created Head of Traffic role will see Sanjay Balakrishnan, formerly of PartyGaming, lead Shopping.com’s affiliate and marketing teams; specifically growing organic traffic and optimising the company’s search engine marketing (SEM) and search engine optimisation (SEO) performance, in addition to building the network’s distributed commerce channel.
As Head of Merchant Services, David Mackenzie will take the lead on growing Shopping.com’s portfolio of merchants, building deeper relationships with current clients and growing Shopping.com’s nascent ad sales business.
Matthew Hardcastle, Managing Director of the Shopping.com UK network said: “The shopping comparison sector is one of the most mature markets within the online industry; we recognise that in order to continue to be a leader in this space we must continue to be innovators; Sanjay and David will play an important part in helping us achieve this as they bring fresh perspectives and new ideas which will help improve our core comparison offer, and see us develop new products and services.
Before joining Shopping.com, Sanjay was Director of Online Marketing at PartyGaming plc. David hails from New Zealand and was previously general manager of Fairfax Media Sundays, the publisher of New Zealand's two national Sunday newspapers.
