Online grocery retailer Ocado is re-designing its website www.ocado.com, following the launch of its Tesco price match initiative.
The new site, which is the second significant update since the start of this year, is currently in test and also includes an extended wine ‘cellar’ as well as recipe and ideas sections.
The website improves the visibility of value with an ‘On Offer’ filter at the top of the main navigation and a rotating selection of offers featured pictorially at the foot of the home page.
The project was undertaken by the Ocado in-house team.
Head of Trading and Marketing, Jon Rudoe, comments, “The price match has generated unprecedented results for Ocado, with new customer registrations and weekly sales reaching an all-time high. Previously, we were recognised for our quality range and superior delivery but including value in that equation appears to have created the perfect storm.
“We have also re-structured the site’s categories in line with our popular colour-coded bags. Colour-coding enables us to deliver separated store cupboard, fridge and freezer items and reduces the hassle of putting away the shopping. Online, shopping via these categories will be quicker and easier.”
