Online ad network Advertising.com has made a number of senior appointments to its specialist search division.

Richard Garrod will head up the team as Search Product Manager and Joe Southin takes the role of Head of Search Delivery. Both will play key roles in implementing Advertising.com's search expertise across Europe and evolving the company's market-leading dynamic search platform.

With PhDs in chemistry and physics respectively, the pair add to Advertising.com's already 45 strong PhD Think Tank tasked with innovating the company's digital marketing products. Garrod and Southin will be applying their analytical and number crunching skills to developing Advertising.com's Cost-Per-Acquisition (CPA) offering, advancing click-path analysis and bolstering the company's client-facing tools.

The search industry's heady growth is set to continue to boom at a rate of 12 per cent a year, according to the Search Agency. And with eMarketer predicting that Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising will blast past the $10 billion mark by 2009, Advertising.com's new appointments come at a time when the market is hungry for innovation in search.

Garrod is well equipped to deliver on these expectations, drawing on his considerable understanding of the online sector. In addition to his three years' immersed in search at Advertising.com, Garrod has created and managed several successful online businesses, including a PPC affiliate company which he started at university.

Garrod will be focusing his competitive energy on advancing Advertising.com's already market leading bid management tools and developing the algorithms that power AdLearn for Search. The appointment follows his proven success as Search Delivery Manager for Northern Europe, where his significant achievements include doubling conversions for TUIfly.

Focusing on campaign delivery, Southin's appointment as Head of Search Delivery for Europe reflects Advertising.com's dedication to ensuring customer satisfaction and performance-based campaign success. Drawing on his four years at Advertising.com and his experience leading the UK's search delivery team, Southin will be active in ensuring that learnings from the domestic market, currently the European market leader, are shared across all territories.

Southin previously worked as a scientific researcher developing chips for mobile phone company TDK and continues to play keyboards for the band Arrows, having toured with Primal Scream, Electric 6 and New Order. Alongside Garrod, he will apply his scientific skill and creative flair to further advance Advertising.com's award-winning, real-time dynamic bid optimisation technology, AdLearn.

Brendan Condon, Managing Director of Advertising.com International, said: "I could not be more pleased to have Richard and Joe assisting Advertising.com in continuing to grow our UK and European search division. I am confident that their exceptional abilities and professional attitudes will continue to drive the momentum that typifies our London office. "
