The online retail giant said the new store, called Amazon MP3, offers over 2 million songs in a DRM-free, MP3 format.
The songs are from over 180,000 artists represented by over 20,000 major and independent labels.
customers can burn the downloaded content onto CDs with no restrictions and most of the songs are priced between 89 cents and 99 cents, while albums are priced at anything between $5.99 and $9.99.
Customers can purchase downloads using Amazon 1-Click shopping, and add them to iTunes or Windows Media Player libraries using an ‘Amazon MP3 Downloader’ application.
