Zopa first company to use Windows Live API

Added:
Apr 30, 2007

Initially, Zopa will use the API to enhance its 'Member get Member' scheme where current Zopa members can earn £30 for each lender or borrower that they recommend to the Zopa marketplace who then goes on to transact.

Members will be able to sign into Windows Live from Zopa.com, where the details from their contact lists will be pulled through so they can easily choose who they want to send an email about joining Zopa.

Dave Nicholson, one of Zopa's founders, who presented the new Windows Live API functionality on Tuesday at Microsoft MIX 07 in Las Vegas, said: "The Member get Member initiative at Zopa is already in high demand with our members.

“Windows Live API takes away any of the hassle of having to manually go through your contacts list to email friends about Zopa - so we'll think it will prove very popular indeed."

Todd Biggs, Senior Product Planner, Microsoft, said "Microsoft is delighted that Zopa will be one of the first companies to make use of the new Windows Live API. Zopa's Member get Member initiative is a great example of how the Windows Live Contacts API can make user interaction and involvement much cleaner, simpler and more effective. We're looking forward to seeing Zopa roll out even more Windows Live services over the coming months."

Subsequent uses of the Windows Live API will include allowing Zopa members to create their own friends and family network at Zopa - meaning that they can lend or borrow exclusively within their group of chosen contacts.
