Ralph creates new site for Primal Scream

The new site www.primalscream.net is designed to help build relationships with fans and support Primal Scream’s ninth studio LP Riot City Blues, released in June, and the next single, Dolls (Sweet Rock n Roll), released on 7 August on Columbia Records.

The site provides official UK news, info and tour dates and allows fans to download and purchase the latest LP.

The site features a Flash video player, which Ralph developed on the home page. Fans can type in the title of a Primal Scream track to watch the relevant video.

The selection features videos from Primal Scream’s latest LP and classic tracks like Come Together and Loaded. The Flash video player will also have secret videos added to it for fans to find.

Ralph also developed the content management kit for www.primalscream.net which allows Columbia Records to upload different videos at any time.

The video files themselves are not available for download and can only be viewed through the Flash video player.

The site is currently running a 4-part Primal Scream Podcast which includes 4 25-30min episodes of an interview between Bobby Gillespie and Andrew Innes from the band and radio presenter Colin Murray.

Fans can register their details for the latest news on the band, and this data capture will allow Columbia Records to use these details for future communications with fans.

Ralph were hired by Columbia Records, without a pitch, following their current music portfolio and extensive experience in Flash video.

Ralph have recently developed an online Flash video player for Nickelodeon called TurboNick UK  which allows viewers to watch the best clips from Nickelodeon’s back catalogue of shows, as well as exclusive clips before they are aired on the channel.

Dan Ayers, head of digital marketing at Columbia Label Group said: "Flash video is now arguably the neatest way of embedding music videos into our sites, and the player we've developed with Ralph over the Primals site adds a cool twist. 'Navigating' the videos by text prompts not only encourages the user to interact with the site, but also allows us to 'hide' content in the player under secret search terms, which can then form the centre of digital marketing campaigns".

Columbia Records will promote the site through online networks, existing fan bases and printed material in the UK and will use their own system to track and evaluate the success of the site.

Primal Scream is the latest artist in Ralph’s music portfolio which includes Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs and Will Young.
