The Popworld Promotes site will allow the consumer to determine each month which new musical talent should rise from anonymity, to appear live on the C4 TV show and ‘make it’ within the music industry.

A winning band will be selected each month as a result of a variety of factors including the number of clicks to an artist’s page, amount of people that downloaded a track and rated it and how many people emailed tracks to a friend.

These factors turn into points and every month the winning band with the most points will enter the Popworld Elite and make their first appearance on the Popworld TV show, on Saturday mornings on C4 and then go on to its first Popworld Promotes live gig.

Popworld Promotes will continue to help support the bands in the next phase of their road to fame with live tours around the country, music videos and marketing support.

The first gig will be staged at Hard Rock Café on Monday 24 April 2006.

Martin Lowde, CEO of Popworld, said: “Consumers seem to want to move away from manufactured bands to genuine musical talent.  From the bands we have already signed it is clear there is a wealth of untapped talent out there and we are very committed to finding them and providing them with a platform to prove themselves to the public.  We want to encourage real people to discover real music.”

Neil McCallum, Commissioning Editor-T4, Youth & Music comments; “The music scene in the UK has never been so vibrant.  Popworld Promotes will add a new dimension to the industry with this cutting edge multimedia experience giving musicians and songwriters a chance to get heard.”

Popworld Promotes is a wholly owned subsidiary of Popworld Ltd, the multimedia music entertainment specialist company with a very unique shareholding of C4, UBC Media Plc, Simon Fuller, and Freedom Media.

In addition, the show itself receives 500,000 viewers 48 weeks a year and has a database of 470,000 registered fans.
