Simon Gunning joins as director of entertainment and games and Lloyd Shepherd joins as director of news, sport and information.

Both will be responsible for defining and executing pan-European product strategy for their sectors, as well as market and partnership development.

Gunning joins Yahoo! from Celador International where he was director of interactive media with responsibility for the organisation’s global strategy and development of digital media products and services.

Prior to Celador, he was the controller of interactive programming at Flextech Television, where he developed the multi-platform content strategy and led its implementation for five of the biggest digital broadcast channels in the UK.

Lloyd joins Yahoo! Europe from Guardian Newspapers Limited where he was the deputy director of digital publishing, leading the product development and digital publishing strategy for the organisation. Previously he spent three years as product director of Yahoo! UK & Ireland, where he helped develop the yahoo.co.uk site to a full portal including the launch of many platform, commerce and community products.

Both Simon and Lloyd will report to Jon Gisby, vice president of Media for Yahoo! Europe, who said: “We now want to develop our strategy to provide users with an ever richer mix of on-line content that will entertain and engage them. Simon and Lloyd will drive new initiatives in all our key properties, from entertainment and games to news, sport and information.”
