For today, 29 September, eBid is offering Gold Memberships, which provide free listing and closing fees for life and are normally priced at around £45, to all Internet users for the price it would cost to list just one item on eBay.
Users can log on to www.eBid.co.uk and click on the register button. When offered the chance to upgrade their account, users can choose the Lifetime Gold option, which will be priced at just £0.15 for the day.
The offer is timed to coincide with the day market leader eBay raises its prices to list items on its site.
The firm said eBay will raise its insertion charges for Multiple Items and Fixed Price Listings from £2 to £3, representing a 50% mark-up.
Meanwhile costs for adding a Buy It Now option will now be charged according to an item’s value, instead of the usual flat rate fee of 6p.
eBid said it does not charge any listing fees at all and asks only for a small final value fee of 2% on all purchase transactions, a fee which eBay currently charges a percentage rate of between 3.5 – 5%.
Founded in 2000, eBid.co.uk has sister sites in Canada, Australia, Ireland and the USA. It says its now receives more than 650 new members a day.
