The move would see the retailer stock items such as dining tables and cabinets on its website, according to a report in Retail Week.
At present, Tesco sells non-food items such as CDs, books and clothing.
The UK furniture market is said to be worth some £12.5bn, although several established retailers such as Allders, Courts and The Sofa Company owner Klaussner have go into administration this year following poor sales.
A spokesperson for Tesco said the firm had not made any specific plans but added it always examined 'new products'.
